Parthenonas is a Byzantine settlement, one of the oldest villages of Sithonia, which keeps almost intact its traditional architectural and urban planning character.

Parthenonas was abandoned by its old residents in 1970 and until then there was neither electricity nor telephone. It wasn’t until 1954 that has been connected to a motorway with N. Marmaras. The houses and the economic activities of the residents kept untouched the traditional characteristics of the rural economy and life. It is the only traditional village of Chalkidiki that is preserved intact and has no post-war building interventions.

Parthenonas, is built at an altitude of 350m., on the west slope of the pine tree forest of mount Itamos (Dragoudelis). It has large olive groves and provides a magnificent view of Toroneos Gulf, Mount Olympus, Kassandra, Pelion and Sporades islands. It is 5 km away from N. Marmaras. and is connected through forest roads with Vourvourou and mainly Sykia, which is a village that had traditional economic and family relations with Parthenonas.
